Embracing discomfort is the essence of growth. Every instance of personal advancement is accompanied by a degree of unease. Consider the challenging journey of tackling your MCATs or navigating the stress of the application process during the match. Even the initial experience of mastering a medical procedure like inserting a central line can provoke a surge of adrenaline and tension.

This discomfort is natural. Yet, as individuals evolve into experts in their respective fields, such as physicians who have devoted countless hours to residency and training, they often misinterpret discomfort as a sign of failure. I remind them that discomfort is an integral part of progress.

Initially, it may feel daunting, but with repetition and experience, the discomfort gradually diminishes. Just as with any skill, the more it's practiced, the more familiar and manageable it becomes.
