You can begin to make requests of them based on what you need for your ideal practice. There is a specific way to communicate with people in positions of authority, especially when what they've asked you to do is hypocritical, unreasonable, or prioritizes profit over patient care. By fostering this supportive relationship, you can address these issues without insulting them, perhaps channeling the tactful approach of a 1970s detective like Columbo.
