Improving communication and care: Understanding the doctor-nurse dynamic #shorts

It's important to understand the perspectives of the doctors you work with. When you understand what they're going through and what their life looks like, it can improve communication and interactions between the two professions. That's why I wanted to share some anecdotes and tips from my experience in the field.

For example, when I'm on call, I cover four hospitals and 60 patients. Nurses often call pulmonologists at night to provide updates on a patient. It can be challenging for the pulmonologist to remember every patient they are covering, so it's important for the nurse to provide a clear clinical picture so the doctor can understand how they can best help the patient at that time.

By understanding each other's perspectives and working together, we can provide the best care for our patients.
