The eye-opening marvels of ophthalmology: instant gratification vs. lifelong care

In the field of ophthalmology, particularly when dealing with glaucoma, there's a remarkable contrast in the initial impact compared to cataract surgery. Cataract surgery can offer almost immediate transformation – taking someone from blindness to restored vision in a matter of minutes, providing that instant gratification.

However, as a glaucoma specialist, I recognize that this is a lifelong battle for patients. They will depend on my care for many years to come, affording me the opportunity to build lasting relationships with them and their families. I find immense fulfillment in this delicate balance I've cultivated – experiencing the exhilaration of those moments when patients regain their sight and express their gratitude with phrases like, "Oh my gosh, I can see! Thank you so much." These moments infuse my day with a sense of accomplishment and positivity. Simultaneously, I cherish the privilege of journeying alongside glaucoma patients throughout the extended chapters of their lives, providing consistent support and care.
